But know for certain that if you put me to death, you will surely bring innocent blood upon yourselves and upon this city and upon the inhabitants. For truly the Lord has sent me to you to speak all these words in your ears.”

And then He said, “What have you done? The voice of your brother’s blood is crying out to Me from the ground.

Then Jeremiah spoke to all the officials and to all the people, saying, “The Lord sent me to prophesy against this house and against this city all the words that you have heard.

The word that came to Jeremiah from the Lord, saying:

if you do not oppress the stranger, the fatherless, and the widow, and do not shed innocent blood in this place, or walk after other gods to your harm,

So you will not defile the land which you are in, because blood defiles the land, and the land cannot be cleansed of the blood that is shed in it, except by the blood of him that shed it.

Then Judas, who betrayed Him, answered, “Master, is it I?” He said to him, “You have said it.”

and took counsel that they might take Jesus covertly and kill Him.

Then he knelt down and cried with a loud voice, “Lord, do not hold this sin against them.” Having said this, he fell asleep.

Then innocent blood will not be shed in your land, which the Lord your God is giving you for an inheritance, and blood guiltiness be on you.

For they have shed the blood of saints and prophets, and You have given them blood to drink. It is what they deserve!”
