Howl, you shepherds, and cry; and wallow in the ashes, you leaders of the flock. For the days of your slaughter and of your dispersions are accomplished; and you will fall like a choice vessel.

In the spring of that year King Nebuchadnezzar sent for him and brought him to Babylon with the precious items from the house of the Lord. Then Zedekiah his brother was king over Judah and Jerusalem.

You will break them with a rod of iron; you will dash them in pieces like a potter’s vessel.”

When the Lord has performed all His work on Mount Zion and on Jerusalem, He will say, “I will punish the fruit of the stout heart of the king of Assyria and the glory of his high looks.”

Woe to you, O destroyer, though you were not destroyed, and he who is treacherous, though others did not deal treacherously with you! When you cease destroying, you shall be destroyed; and when you finish dealing treacherously, others shall deal treacherously with you.

The sword of the Lord is filled with blood, it is made full with fatness, and with the blood of lambs and goats, with the fat of the kidneys of rams. For the Lord has a sacrifice in Bozrah, and a great slaughter in the land of Edom.

The wild oxen shall also fall with them, and the young bulls with the mighty bulls; so their land shall be soaked with blood, and their dust become greasy with fat.

Let a cry be heard from their houses, when You bring a troop suddenly upon them; for they have dug a pit to take me and hidden snares for my feet.

Is this man Koniah a despised broken jar? Is he a vessel in which is no desire? Why are he and his seed cast out and thrown into a land which they had not known?

Woe to the shepherds who destroy and scatter the sheep of My pasture! says the Lord.

It shall come to pass when seventy years are finished that I will punish the king of Babylon and that nation, says the Lord, for their iniquity, and the land of the Chaldeans, and will make it perpetual desolations.

Dedan, and Tema, and Buz, and all who cut the corners of their hair;

A voice of the cry of the shepherds and a howling of the leaders of the flock shall be heard, for the Lord has devastated their pasture.

All nations shall serve him and his son and his son’s son until the time of his own land comes; and then many nations and great kings will make him their servant.

But I said: How can I put you among My sons and give you a pleasant land, the most beautiful inheritance of the nations? And I said: You shall call Me, My Father, and shall not turn away from Me.

Make him drunk, for he magnified himself against the Lord. Moab also will wallow in his vomit, and he also will be held in derision.

There will be lamentation everywhere upon all the housetops of Moab and in the streets, for I have broken Moab like a vessel in which is no pleasure, says the Lord.

Slay all her bulls, let them go down to the slaughter. Woe to them! For their day has come, the time of their punishment.

O daughter of my people, gird yourself with sackcloth and wallow in ashes. Mourn as for an only son, a most bitter lamentation; for the destroyer shall suddenly come upon us.

Rejoice and be glad, O daughter of Edom, you who dwell in the land of Uz! The cup shall also pass to you; you shall become drunk and strip yourself bare.

Therefore thus says the Lord God to them: Behold, I, even I, will judge between the fat sheep and between the lean sheep.

And he shall also carry captive into Egypt their gods, with their officials, and with their precious vessels of silver and of gold. And he shall continue more years than the king of the North,

Israel is swallowed up. Now they are among the nations as a vessel in which there is no pleasure.

Therefore, because you trample on the poor and take from him a levy of wheat, though you have built houses of hewn stone, you will not dwell in them; though you have planted pleasant vineyards, you will not drink their wine.

My anger burns against the shepherds, and I will visit judgment on the male goats. For the Lord of Hosts will visit His flock, the house of Judah, and will make them like His majestic horse in battle.

There is the sound of wailing shepherds, because their glory is ruined. There is the sound of roaring lions, because the pride of Jordan is ruined.

You have lived in pleasure on the earth and have been wayward. You have nourished your hearts as in a day of slaughter.
