And he made sacrifices in the Valley of Ben-hinnom, and he burned his sons in the fire according to the detestable acts of the nations that the Lord had displaced before the Israelites.
He even made his sons pass through the fire in the Valley of Ben-hinnom; and he had conjurers, and practitioners of divination and sorcery, and necromancers, and mediums. So he did a great amount of evil in the eyes of the Lord, so that God was provoked.
After them Zadok the son of Immer repaired across from his house. After him Shemaiah the son of Shecaniah, who was keeper of the East Gate, made repairs.
Then the Lord said to me: Proclaim all these words in the cities of Judah and in the streets of Jerusalem: saying, Hear the words of this covenant, and do them.
Thus says the Lord: Stand in the court of the house of the Lord, and speak to all the cities of Judah who come to worship in the house of the Lord all the words that I command you to speak to them. Do not diminish a word.
Go and proclaim these words toward the north, and say: Return, backsliding Israel, says the Lord, and I will not cause My anger to fall on you. For I am merciful, says the Lord, and I will not keep anger forever.
They built the high places of Baal which are in the Valley of Ben-hinnom to cause their sons and their daughters to pass through the fire to Molech, which I had not commanded them, nor did it come into My mind that they should do this abomination, to cause Judah to sin.
Stand in the gate of the house of the Lord and proclaim there this word: Hear the word of the Lord, all you of Judah, who enter at these gates to worship the Lord.
The border rises to the Valley of Ben-hinnom, to the southern slope of the Jebusites (that is, Jerusalem), then rises to the top of the hill west of the Valley of Ben-hinnom, at the northern end of the Valley of Rephaim.
