Many shepherds have destroyed My vineyard; they have trodden My portion underfoot; they have made My pleasant portion a desolate wilderness.

Woe to the shepherds who destroy and scatter the sheep of My pasture! says the Lord.

Your holy people possessed Your sanctuary for a little while; our adversaries have trodden it down.

The shepherds with their flocks will come to her. They will pitch their tents against her all around. They will pasture each in his place.

But I said: How can I put you among My sons and give you a pleasant land, the most beautiful inheritance of the nations? And I said: You shall call Me, My Father, and shall not turn away from Me.

But exclude the court which is outside the temple, and do not measure it, for it has been given to the nations. They will trample on the Holy City for forty-two months.

Therefore resolve in your hearts beforehand not to practice your defense.

All the officials of the king of Babylon entered and sat in the Middle Gate: Nergal-sharezer, Samgar-Nebo, Sarsechim the Rabsaris, Nergal-sharezer the Rabmag, and all the rest of the officials of the king of Babylon.

behold, I will send and take all the families of the north, says the Lord, and Nebuchadnezzar the king of Babylon, My servant, and will bring them against this land and its inhabitants, and against all these surrounding nations; I will utterly destroy them, and make them an astonishment, a hissing, and perpetual desolations.

Therefore, I have profaned the princes of the sanctuary, and have given Jacob to the curse, and Israel to reproaches.

For the mountains I will take up a weeping and wailing, and for the habitations of the wilderness a lamentation, because they are burned up so that no one can pass through them; nor can men hear the lowing of the cattle. Both the fowl of the heavens and the beast have fled; they are gone.

Son of man, prophesy against the shepherds of Israel. Prophesy and say to those shepherds, Thus says the Lord God: Woe to the shepherds of Israel who feed themselves! Should not the shepherds feed the flock?

Then I heard one saint speaking, and another saint said to that certain saint which spoke, “How long shall be the vision concerning the daily sacrifice and the transgression of desolation, the giving of both the sanctuary and the host to be trodden underfoot?”

So I scattered them about among all the nations whom they did not know, so the land was left desolate behind them with no one coming or going. And they made a desirable land desolate.

The Lord will enter into judgment with the elders and the princes of His people: For you have eaten up the vineyard; the spoil of the poor is in your houses.

The peaceable habitations are cut down because of the fierce anger of the Lord.

He has left His lair as the lion; for their land is desolate because of the fierceness of the oppressor and because of His fierce anger.

They were scattered because there was no shepherd. And they became meat to all the beasts of the field and were scattered.
