Isaiah 8:14

He shall become a sanctuary, but a stone of stumbling and a rock of offense to both the houses of Israel, and a trap and a snare to the inhabitants of Jerusalem.

and, “A stone of stumbling, and a rock of offense.” They stumble, because they are disobedient to the word, to which also they were appointed.

Therefore, thus says the Lord God: Behold, I lay in Zion a stone, a tested stone, a precious cornerstone, firmly placed; he who believes shall not act hastily.

The name of the Lord is a strong tower; the righteous run into it and are safe.

And they took offense at Him. But Jesus said to them, “A prophet is not without honor except in his own country and in his own house.”

Come, my people, enter your chambers, and shut your doors behind you; hide for a little while until the indignation is over.

“Or who has first given to Him, and it shall be repaid to him?”

For as a snare it will come on all those who dwell on the surface of the whole earth.

There shall be a tabernacle for a shadow in the daytime from the heat, and for a place of refuge, and for a shelter from storm and from rain.

Whoever falls on this stone will be broken to pieces. But on whomever it falls, it will crush him.”

For before the child shall know to refuse the evil and choose the good, the land that you dread shall be forsaken of both her kings.

Because you have not given him warning, he shall die in his sin, and his righteousness which he has done shall not be remembered. But his blood I will require at your hand.

So Joshua went up from Gilgal, he and all the people of war with him, and all the mighty men of valor.
