I have set watchmen on your walls, O Jerusalem, who shall never hold their peace day or night. You who remind the Lord, do not keep silent;

His watchmen are blind; they all are ignorant; they all are dumb dogs, unable to bark; sleepers lying down, who love to slumber.

For the sake of Zion I will not keep silent, and for the sake of Jerusalem I will not rest until her righteousness goes forth as brightness and her salvation as a lamp that burns.

Do not abhor us. For Your name’s sake, do not disgrace Your glorious throne. Remember and do not break Your covenant with us.

Also I set watchmen over you, saying, “Listen to the sound of the trumpet.” But they said, “We will not listen.”

Remember, O  Lord, what has come upon us; look, and see our reproach!

Why do You forget us forever, and forsake us for so long a time?

Those who went in front rebuked him, so that he would keep quiet. But he cried out much more, “Son of David, have mercy on me!”

and said, ‘Cornelius, your prayer has been heard, and your alms are remembered before God.

When he looked intently at him, he was afraid, and said, “What is it, Lord?” He said to him, “Your prayers and your alms have come up as a memorial before God.

God has put these in the church: first apostles, second prophets, third teachers, after that miracles, then gifts of healings, helps, governments, and various tongues.

Obey your leaders and submit to them, for they watch over your souls as those who must give an account. Let them do this with joy and not complaining, for that would not be profitable to you.

They cried out with a loud voice, “How long, O Sovereign Lord, holy and true, until You judge and avenge our blood on those who dwell on the earth?”
