Modern English Version

The sons of foreigners shall build up your walls, and their kings shall minister to you; for in My wrath I struck you, but in My favor I have had mercy on you.

Strangers shall stand and feed your flocks, and the sons of the foreigner shall be your plowmen and your vinedressers.

kings shall be your foster fathers and their queens your nursing mothers; they shall bow down to you with their faces toward the ground and lick up the dust of your feet. And you shall know that I am the Lord, for those who wait for Me shall not be ashamed.

They shall bring into it the glory and the honor of the nations.

And the nations of those who are saved shall walk in its light, and the kings of the earth shall bring their glory and honor into it.

And those who are far off shall come and help to build the temple of the Lord; and you all shall know that the Lord of Hosts has sent me to you. This shall happen if you diligently obey the voice of the Lord your God.

The nations shall come to your light and kings to the brightness of your rising.

And in that day you shall say: O  Lord, I will praise You; though You were angry with me, Your anger has turned away, and You comforted me.

For His anger endures but for a moment; His favor is for a lifetime; weeping may linger for the night, but joy comes in the morning.

I will also take some of them for priests and for Levites, says the Lord.

You will arise and have mercy on Zion, for it is time to favor her; the appointed time has come.

Also the sons of the foreigner who join themselves to the Lord to serve Him, and to love the name of the Lord, and to be His servants, to everyone who keeps from polluting the Sabbath and takes hold of My covenant,

to proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord and the day of vengeance of our God; to comfort all who mourn,

Do not be wrathful beyond measure, O  Lord, nor remember iniquity forever. Behold, look upon us, we pray, for we all are Your people.

Then the Lord became jealous for His land and took pity upon His people.
