We grope along the wall like the blind, and we grope as if we had no eyes; we stumble at noonday as in the night; among those who are vigorous, we are as dead men.

In the daytime they encounter darkness, and at noontime they grope as in the night.

The way of the wicked is like darkness; they do not know what makes them stumble.

So the word of the Lord will be to them, “Precept upon precept, precept upon precept, line upon line, line upon line, here a little, there a little,” that they might go and fall backward, be broken, snared, and taken captive.

He shall become a sanctuary, but a stone of stumbling and a rock of offense to both the houses of Israel, and a trap and a snare to the inhabitants of Jerusalem.

Many among them shall stumble and fall and be broken and be snared and be taken.

Give glory to the Lord your God, before He causes darkness and before your feet stumble on the dark mountains, and while you look for light, He turns it into the shadow of death and makes it gross darkness.

He has set me in dark places, like the dead of long ago.

They wandered, blind, in the streets; they have defiled themselves with blood, so that no one could touch their garments.

That their hearts may faint, and many fall at all their gates, I have given the glittering sword. Ah! It is made for striking like lightning; it is wrapped up for the slaughter.

On that day, says the Lord God, I will make the sun go down at noon, and darken the earth in mid-daylight;

Therefore you will have night without vision, and you will have darkness without divination; the sun will set upon the prophets, and black upon them will be the day.

Then Jesus said to them, “Yet a little while the light is with you. Walk while you have the light, lest darkness overtake you. He who walks in darkness does not know where he is going.

“He has blinded their eyes and hardened their hearts, lest they should see with their eyes and perceive with their hearts and turn, and I would heal them.”

You will grope at noon, as the blind man gropes in darkness, and you will not prosper in your ways. You will only be oppressed and continually robbed, and no man will save you.

But whoever hates his brother is in darkness, and walks in darkness, and does not know where he is going, because the darkness has blinded his eyes.
