He was despised and rejected of men, a man of sorrows and acquainted with grief. And we hid, as it were, our faces from him; he was despised, and we did not esteem him.

But I am afflicted and in pain; let Your salvation, O God, set me safely on high.

Thus says the Lord, the Redeemer of Israel, and his Holy One, to the despised one, to the one whom the nation abhors, to the servant of rulers: “Kings shall see and arise, princes also shall worship, because of the Lord who is faithful and the Holy One of Israel who has chosen you.”

Now gather yourself in troops, O daughter of troops; he has laid siege against us. With a rod they will strike the judge of Israel on the cheek.

I destroyed the three shepherds in the span of one month. For my soul was impatient with them, and their souls detested me.

Then they spit in His face and struck Him. And others slapped Him with the palms of their hands,

saying, “Sir, we remember that deceiver saying while He was still alive, ‘After three days I will rise.’

saying, “Listen! We are going up to Jerusalem. The Son of Man will be handed over to the chief priests and the scribes, and they will condemn Him to death and hand Him over to the Gentiles.

They will mock Him, and scourge Him, and spit on Him, and kill Him. Then after three days He will rise.”

And He said to them, “My soul is deeply sorrowful unto death. Remain here and keep watch.”

They struck His head with a staff and spit on Him. And bowing their knees, they bowed to pay homage to Him.

He answered, “Elijah indeed comes first to restore all things. Yet how is it written of the Son of Man that He should suffer many things and be treated with contempt?

The Pharisees, who were lovers of money, heard all these things and derided Him.

When He came near, He beheld the city and wept over it,

They laughed at Him, knowing that she was dead.

saying, “The Son of Man must suffer many things, and be rejected by the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and be raised the third day.”

The Jews answered Him, “Do we not rightly say that You are a Samaritan and have a demon?”

But Jeshurun grew fat and kicked; you grew fat, you grew thick; you are covered with fat. Then he forsook God who made him, and devalued the rock of his salvation.

For we do not have a High Priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but One who was in every sense tempted like we are, yet without sin.

In the days of His flesh, Jesus offered up prayers and supplications with loud cries and tears to Him who was able to save Him from death. He was heard because of His godly fear.
