Two men, sons of Belial, came in and sat in front of him, and the men of Belial witnessed against Naboth in the presence of the people, saying, “Naboth blasphemed God and the king.” Then they carried him out of the city and stoned him to death.

So now may the fear of the Lord be on you. Consider and act well, because there is no injustice, partiality, or taking bribes with the Lord our God.”

They band together against the life of the righteous and condemn innocent blood.

He who justifies the wicked and he who condemns the just, both are abominations to the Lord.

A wicked man accepts a concealed bribe to pervert the ways of justice.

He who says to the wicked, “You are righteous,” him will the people curse; nations will detest him,

Your princes are rebellious and companions of thieves; everyone loves a bribe and follows after rewards. They do not defend the fatherless, nor does the cause of the widow come before them.

Woe to those who decree unrighteous decrees and who write unjust judgments which they have prescribed

to turn aside the needy from justice and to take away the right from the poor of My people, that widows may be their prey, and that they may rob the fatherless!

But they also have erred through wine and stagger from strong drink; the priest and the prophet have erred through strong drink, they are confused by wine, they stagger from strong drink; they err while having visions, they stumble when rendering judgment.

those who cause a man to be indicted by a word, and lay a snare for him who reproves in the gate, and turn aside the righteous with meaningless arguments.

The instruments also of the rogue are evil; he devises wicked schemes to destroy the poor with lying words, even when the needy speaks right.

Truth is lacking, and he who departs from evil makes himself a prey. Then the Lord saw it, and it displeased Him that there was no justice.

For I know your transgressions are many and your sins are grievous, you who oppress the just, who take a bribe and subvert the needy at the gate.

Her leaders judge for a bribe, her priests teach for a price, and her prophets practice divination for money. Yet upon the Lord they lean, saying, “Is not the Lord in our midst? Evil will not come upon us.”

Both hands are upon evil, to do it well. The prince and the judge request the bribe, the powerful asserts the craving of his very soul— they intertwine together.

that on you may come all the righteous blood shed on the earth, from the blood of righteous Abel to the blood of Zechariah son of Berekiah, whom you murdered between the temple and the altar.

You must not pervert judgment nor show partiality. You must not accept a bribe, for a bribe blinds the eyes of the wise and perverts the words of the righteous.

You have condemned and killed the righteous man who does not resist you.
