Isaiah 49:23

Modern English Version

kings shall be your foster fathers and their queens your nursing mothers; they shall bow down to you with their faces toward the ground and lick up the dust of your feet. And you shall know that I am the Lord, for those who wait for Me shall not be ashamed.

When Joseph came home, they brought into the house to him the present that they had with them and bowed themselves to him to the ground.

Therefore thus says the Lord, who redeemed Abraham, concerning the house of Jacob: Jacob shall not now be ashamed, nor shall his face now turn pale;

that they may see, and know, and consider, and understand together, that the hand of the Lord has done this, and the Holy One of Israel has created it.

You are My witnesses, says the Lord, and My servant whom I have chosen that you may know and believe Me, and understand that I am He. Before Me there was no God formed, nor shall there be after Me.

Thus says the Lord: The products of Egypt and merchandise of Cush and of the Sabeans—men of stature— shall come over to you, and they shall be yours; they shall come after you; in chains they shall come over, and they shall fall down before you. They shall make supplication to you, saying, “Surely God is with you, and there is no other; there is no other God.”

but Israel shall be saved by the Lord with an everlasting salvation; you shall not be ashamed nor humiliated to all eternity.

Thus says the Lord, the Redeemer of Israel, and his Holy One, to the despised one, to the one whom the nation abhors, to the servant of rulers: “Kings shall see and arise, princes also shall worship, because of the Lord who is faithful and the Holy One of Israel who has chosen you.”

For the Lord God will help me; therefore, I shall not be disgraced; therefore, I have set my face like a flint, and I know that I shall not be ashamed.

so he shall sprinkle many nations. Kings shall shut their mouths at him; for that which had not been told them they shall see, and that which they had not heard they shall consider.

Therefore, My people shall know My name; therefore, they shall know in that day that I am He who does speak: Here I am.

The sons also of those who afflicted you shall come bowing before you, and all those who despised you shall bow themselves down at the soles of your feet; and they shall call you, The City of the Lord, the Zion of the Holy One of Israel.

You shall also suck the milk of the nations and suck the breast of kings; then you shall know that I, the Lord, am your Savior and your Redeemer, the Mighty One of Jacob.

The nations shall come to your light and kings to the brightness of your rising.

The nations shall see your righteousness, and all kings your glory. And you shall be called by a new name, which the mouth of the Lord shall name.

For since the beginning of the world men have not heard, nor perceived by ear, neither has the eye seen a God besides You, who acts for the one who waits for Him.

And I will lay sinews upon you and will grow back flesh upon you and cover you with skin and put breath in you so that you live. Then you shall know that I am the Lord.”

Then you will know that I am in the midst of Israel, that I am the Lord your God, and that there is no other. And My people will never again be shamed.

They will lick dust like the serpent, like crawling creatures of the earth; they will come shuddering from their lairs. They will turn in dread to the Lord our God, and they will be afraid of You.

Have I conceived all this people? Have I given them birth, that You should say to me, ‘Carry them in your bosom, as a nurse bears the nursing child,’ to the land which You swore to their fathers?

He who had received the five talents went and traded with them and made another five talents.

For the Scripture says, “Whoever believes in Him will not be ashamed.”

And hope does not disappoint, because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Spirit who has been given to us.

As it is written: “Behold, I lay in Zion a stumbling stone and rock of offense, and whoever believes in Him will not be ashamed.”

For also it is contained in the Scripture, “Behold, I lay in Zion a chief cornerstone, elect, precious, and he who believes in Him shall never be put to shame.”

Behold, I will make those of the synagogue of Satan, who say they are Jews and are not, but lie. Behold, I will make them come and worship before your feet and to know that I have loved you.
