Moreover the Lord says: Because the daughters of Zion are haughty and walk with outstretched necks and wanton eyes, walking and mincing as they go, and making a tinkling with their feet,

Pride goes before destruction, and a haughty spirit before a fall.

A haughty eye and a proud heart, and the lamp of the wicked are sin.

There is a generation—oh how lofty are their eyes! Their eyelids are lifted up.

Go forth, O daughters of Zion, and look upon King Solomon with the crown with which his mother crowned him on the day of his wedding, the day of the gladness of his heart.

The daughter of Zion is left like a shelter in a vineyard, like a hut in a field of melons, like a besieged city.

When the Lord has washed away the filth of the daughters of Zion and has purged the blood of Jerusalem from the midst by the spirit of justice and by the spirit of burning,

On that day you will not be ashamed for all your deeds by which you have transgressed against Me; for then I will remove from your midst those who rejoice in your pride, and you will no longer be haughty in My holy mountain.

“Say to the daughter of Zion, ‘Behold, your King is coming to you, humble, and sitting on a donkey, and on a colt, the foal of a donkey.’ ”

Jesus turned to them, saying, “Daughters of Jerusalem, weep not for Me, but weep for yourselves and for your children.
