The Egyptians I will give over into the hand of a cruel lord, and a fierce king shall rule over them, says the Lord, the Lord of Hosts.

He heard them say concerning Tirhakah king of Cush, “He has come out to make war with you.” And when he heard it, he sent messengers to Hezekiah, saying,

The sword shall come upon Egypt, and great pain shall be in Cush, when the slain fall in Egypt, they take away her wealth, and her foundations are broken down.

Thus says the Lord: Indeed, those who uphold Egypt shall fall, and the pride of her power shall come down. From Migdol to Syene they shall fall in her by the sword, says the Lord God.

You also, son of man, take a brick and lay it before you and inscribe a city on it, even Jerusalem.

Moreover take for yourself an iron plate and set it up for a wall of iron between you and the city. And set your face against it so that it is besieged, and lay siege against it. This shall be a sign to the house of Israel.

You also, O Cushites, will be slain by My sword.

“Hear this, O Joshua the high priest, you and your friends sitting before you, for these men are a sign: Behold, I will bring My servant, the Branch.

According to the number of the days in which you spied out the land, forty days, a year for each day you will bear your iniquity, forty years, and you will know My displeasure.”
