In that day a man shall cast away his idols of silver and his idols of gold, which they made for themselves to worship, to the moles and to the bats,

And what will you do in the day of punishment and in the desolation which shall come from afar? To whom will you flee for help, and where will you leave your wealth?

Bel bows down, Nebo stoops, their idols are appointed to the beasts and the cattle. The things that you carry are burdensome; they are a burden to the weary beast.

They lavish gold out of the bag, and weigh silver on the scales; they hire a goldsmith, and he makes it a god; they fall down and worship it.

Therefore say to the house of Israel, Thus says the Lord God: Repent and turn away from your idols and turn away your faces from all your abominations.

Then I will sprinkle clean water upon you, and you shall be clean. From all your filthiness and from all your idols, I will cleanse you.

They shall cast their silver in the streets, and their gold shall become abhorrent; their silver and their gold shall not be able to deliver them in the day of the wrath of the Lord; they shall not satisfy their souls, or fill their stomachs, for their iniquity has become a stumbling block.

O Ephraim, what have I to do with idols? It is I who answer and look after him. I am like a green fir tree; your fruit is found in Me.

and the stork, the heron of any kind, the hoopoe, and the bat.

The Lord will be dreadful to them, for He will weaken all the gods of the earth; men will worship Him, each from his place, all the lands of the nations.

Then they will begin to say to the mountains, ‘Fall on us,’ and to the hills, ‘Cover us.’
