They shall go into the holes of the rocks, and into the caves of the earth, from the fear of the Lord, and from the glory of His majesty, when He shall arise to shake the earth mightily.

O you who dwell in Moab, leave the cities and dwell in the rock, and be like the dove that makes her nest in the sides of the hole’s mouth.

Thus you shall say to them, Thus says the Lord God: As I live, surely those who are in the ruins shall fall by the sword, and him who is in the open field I will give to the beasts to be devoured, and those who are in the forts and in the caves shall die of pestilence.

The high places of Aven, the sin of Israel, will be destroyed. Thorn and thistle will grow on their altars. They will say to the mountains, Cover us, and to the hills, Fall on us.

They will lick dust like the serpent, like crawling creatures of the earth; they will come shuddering from their lairs. They will turn in dread to the Lord our God, and they will be afraid of You.

You also will be drunk; you will go into hiding; you will seek refuge from the enemy.

For thus says the Lord of Hosts: Once more, in a little while, I will shake the heavens and earth, the sea and dry land.

And I will shake all the nations, and they will come with the wealth of all nations, and I will fill this house with glory, says the Lord of Hosts.

Then they will begin to say to the mountains, ‘Fall on us,’ and to the hills, ‘Cover us.’

They shall be punished with eternal destruction, isolated from the presence of the Lord and from the glory of His power,

The world was not worthy of them. They wandered in deserts and mountains, in dens and caves of the earth.

At that time His voice shook the earth, but now He has given us a promise, saying, “Yet once more I will shake not only the earth but also heaven.”

In those days men will seek death but will not find it. They will desire to die, but death will elude them.

When Israel’s fighting men saw that they were in a strait (for the people were distressed), then the people hid themselves in caves, in hollows, among rocks, and in cellars and cisterns.

So the two of them revealed themselves to the garrison of the Philistines. And the Philistines said, “Look, the Hebrews are coming out of the caves where they have hidden themselves.”
