Woe to the land vibrating with wings, which is beyond the rivers of Cush,

When the king heard concerning Tirhakah king of Cush, “Behold, he has come out to fight against you,” he sent messengers to Hezekiah, saying,

Keep me as the apple of Your eye; hide me in the shadow of Your wings,

How excellent is Your lovingkindness, O God! Therefore mankind seeks refuge in the shadow of Your wings.

Be merciful to me, O God, be merciful to me! For in You my soul takes refuge; in the shadow of Your wings will I take refuge, until these calamities pass by.

I will abide in Your tent forever; I will take refuge in the shelter of Your wings.    Selah

for You have been my help. Therefore in the shadow of Your wings will I rejoice.

He shall cover you with His pinions, and under His wings shall you find refuge; His faithfulness shall be your shield and buckler.

Woe to those who go down to Egypt for help, and rely on horses, and trust in chariots because they are many, and in horsemen because they are very strong, but they do not look to the Holy One of Israel nor seek the Lord!

He heard them say concerning Tirhakah king of Cush, “He has come out to make war with you.” And when he heard it, he sent messengers to Hezekiah, saying,

Thus says the Lord: The products of Egypt and merchandise of Cush and of the Sabeans—men of stature— shall come over to you, and they shall be yours; they shall come after you; in chains they shall come over, and they shall fall down before you. They shall make supplication to you, saying, “Surely God is with you, and there is no other; there is no other God.”

In that day messengers shall go forth from Me in ships to make the careless Cushites afraid, and great pain shall come upon them as in the day of Egypt. Behold, it is coming!

You also, O Cushites, will be slain by My sword.

From beyond the rivers of Cush My worshippers, the daughter of My dispersed ones, will bring My offering.

“O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, you who kill the prophets and stone those who are sent to you, how often I would have gathered your children together as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, but you would not!

May the Lord reward your deeds. May you have a full reward from the Lord, the God of Israel, under whose wings you have come to take refuge.”
