Gladness and joy are taken away out of the plentiful field, and in the vineyards there shall be no singing, nor shall there be shouting; the treaders shall tread out no wine in their presses. I have made their vintage shouting to cease.

Joy and gladness are taken away from the plentiful field, even from the land of Moab, and I have caused wine to fail from the winepresses; no one will tread with shouting. Their shouting will not be shouts of joy.

In all vineyards there shall be wailing, for I will pass through you, says the Lord.

Therefore, because you trample on the poor and take from him a levy of wheat, though you have built houses of hewn stone, you will not dwell in them; though you have planted pleasant vineyards, you will not drink their wine.

They went out to the field, gathered and trod their grapes, and had a celebration. They went to the temple of their god and ate, drank, and cursed Abimelech.

Their goods will be plundered, and their houses laid waste. Though they build houses, they will not inhabit them; though they plant vineyards, they will not drink from their wine.

Within a year and a few days you shall be troubled, you careless daughters; for the vintage is ended and the fruit gathering shall not come.

They press out oil within their walls and tread their winepresses, yet suffer thirst.

There is an outcry for wine in the streets, all joy is turned to gloom, the joyfulness of the earth is gone.

The vine is dried up, and the fig tree is withered; pomegranate, palm, and apple — all the trees of the field are dry; surely joy has withered away from the sons of men.

Indeed, the days are coming, says the Lord, when the plowman will overtake the one who is reaping, and the treader of grapes the one who is sowing the seed; the mountains will drip sweet wine, and all the hills will flow with it.

Your doom has come to you, O inhabitant in the land; the time has come, the day of trouble is near, and not the joyful shouting on the mountains.
