For the Lord will have mercy on Jacob, and will yet choose Israel, and set them in their own land. Then the strangers shall be joined with them, and they shall cleave to the house of Jacob.

In each and every province as well as in each and every city, wherever the king’s edict and his decree reached, the Jews had joy and gladness, a feast, and a holiday. Furthermore, many of the people of the land professed to be Jews because the dread of the Jews fell on them.

Thus says the Lord: The products of Egypt and merchandise of Cush and of the Sabeans—men of stature— shall come over to you, and they shall be yours; they shall come after you; in chains they shall come over, and they shall fall down before you. They shall make supplication to you, saying, “Surely God is with you, and there is no other; there is no other God.”

Come down, and sit in the dust, O virgin daughter of Babylon; sit on the ground; there is no throne, O daughter of the Chaldeans. For you shall no more be called tender and delicate.

they shall neither hunger nor thirst, neither shall the heat nor sun strike them; for He who has mercy on them shall lead them, even by the springs of water He shall guide them.

Sing, O heavens! And be joyful, O earth! And break forth into singing, O mountains! For the Lord has comforted His people and will have mercy on His afflicted.

Can a woman forget her nursing child, and have no compassion on the son of her womb? Even these may forget, yet I will not forget.

For thus says the Lord: Even the captives of the mighty shall be taken away, and the prey of the tyrant shall be delivered; for I will contend with him who contends with you, and I will save your sons.

Thus says the Lord, the Redeemer of Israel, and his Holy One, to the despised one, to the one whom the nation abhors, to the servant of rulers: “Kings shall see and arise, princes also shall worship, because of the Lord who is faithful and the Holy One of Israel who has chosen you.”

For you shall spread out to the right hand and to the left, and your descendants shall inherit the nations and make the desolate cities to be inhabited.

Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts; and let him return to the Lord, and He will have mercy upon him, and to our God, for He will abundantly pardon.

Do not let the son of the foreigner who has joined himself to the Lord speak, saying, “The Lord has utterly separated me from His people”; do not let the eunuch say, “Behold, I am a dry tree.”

The sons of foreigners shall build up your walls, and their kings shall minister to you; for in My wrath I struck you, but in My favor I have had mercy on you.

The sons also of those who afflicted you shall come bowing before you, and all those who despised you shall bow themselves down at the soles of your feet; and they shall call you, The City of the Lord, the Zion of the Holy One of Israel.

They shall bring all your brothers out of all nations as an offering to the Lord on horses, and in chariots, and in litters, and on mules, and on swift beasts to My holy mountain Jerusalem, says the Lord, as the Israelites bring an offering in a clean vessel into the house of the Lord.

but, “As the Lord lives, who brought up the Israelites from the land of the north and from all the lands wherever He had driven them.” And I will bring them again into their land that I gave to their fathers.

I will be found by you, says the Lord, and I will turn away your captivity and gather you from all the nations and from all the places where I have driven you, says the Lord, and I will bring you back into the place from where I caused you to be carried away captive.

For it shall come to pass in that day, says the Lord of Hosts, that I shall break his yoke from off their neck and tear away their bonds, and strangers shall no longer make them their slaves.

Again I will build you and you will be built, O virgin of Israel. You will again be adorned with your tambourines and shall go forth in the dances of those who make merry.

Thus says the Lord of Hosts: The Israelites and the Judahites were oppressed together; and all who took them as captives held them fast; they refused to let them go.

We are humiliated because we have heard reproach. Shame has covered our faces, for strangers have come into the holy places of the house of the Lord.

Nevertheless I will remember My covenant with you in the days of your youth, and I will establish an everlasting covenant with you.

It shall come to pass that you shall divide it by lot for an inheritance among yourselves and among the foreigners who sojourn among you, who shall bear sons among you. And they shall be to you as born in the country among the Israelites. They shall have inheritance with you among the tribes of Israel.

Cry out again, saying, Thus says the Lord of Hosts: Yet again My cities will overflow with goodness, and again the Lord will comfort Zion and choose Jerusalem.

For from the rising of the sun to its setting, My name will be great among the nations, and in every place incense will be offered to My name, and a pure offering, for My name will be great among the nations, says the Lord of Hosts.

He has helped His servant Israel, in remembrance of His mercy,

a light for revelation to the Gentiles, and the glory of Your people Israel.”
