When the Lord has performed all His work on Mount Zion and on Jerusalem, He will say, “I will punish the fruit of the stout heart of the king of Assyria and the glory of his high looks.”

For from Jerusalem a remnant will go forth, and escapees from Mount Zion. “The zeal of the Lord of Hosts will do this.

For You will save the humble people, but will bring down haughty eyes.

You will destroy their offspring from the earth, and their descendants from among the sons of men.

Surely the wrath of man shall praise You; with the remainder of wrath You will gird Yourself.

The stouthearted were plundered; they sank into sleep; and none of the mighty men could use his hands.

A haughty eye and a proud heart, and the lamp of the wicked are sin.

There is a generation—oh how lofty are their eyes! Their eyelids are lifted up.

The lofty looks of man shall be humbled, and the haughtiness of men shall be bowed down, and the Lord alone shall be exalted in that day.

For the day of the Lord of Hosts shall be upon everything that is proud and lofty, and upon everything that is lifted up, and it shall be brought low;

In that day the Lord shall punish the host of heaven on high and the kings of the earth on the earth.

Has He struck them, as He struck those who struck them? Or like the slaughter of His slain, have they been slain?

Through this, therefore, the iniquity of Jacob shall be forgiven, and this will be the full price of the removal of his sin: when he makes all the stones of the altar as chalkstones that are pulverized, when the groves and incense altars shall not stand.

therefore, behold, I will once again do a marvelous work among this people, even a marvelous work and a wonder; for the wisdom of their wise men shall perish, and the understanding of their prudent men shall be hidden.

Woe to you, O destroyer, though you were not destroyed, and he who is treacherous, though others did not deal treacherously with you! When you cease destroying, you shall be destroyed; and when you finish dealing treacherously, others shall deal treacherously with you.

Whom have you reproached and blasphemed? And against whom have you raised your voice, and lifted up your eyes haughtily? Against the Holy One of Israel!

Because your rage against Me and your tumult have come up into My ears, therefore I will put My hook in your nose, and My bridle in your lips, and I will turn you back on the way by which you came.

The common man shall be brought down, and the great man shall be humbled, and the eyes of the lofty shall be humbled.

Behold, all you who kindle a fire, who encompass yourselves with sparks: Walk in the light of your fire and among the sparks that you have ignited. This you shall have from My hand: You shall lie down in sorrow.

your iniquities and the iniquities of your fathers together, says the Lord; because they have burned incense on the mountains and blasphemed Me on the hills, therefore, I will measure their former work into their bosom.

All the people shall know, even Ephraim and the inhabitants of Samaria, who say in the pride and stoutness of heart,

For behold, I begin to bring calamity on the city which is called by My name, and should you be utterly unpunished? You shall not be unpunished. For I will call for a sword upon all the inhabitants of the earth, says the Lord of Hosts.

Therefore thus says the Lord of Hosts, the God of Israel: Behold, I will punish the king of Babylon and his land, as I have punished the king of Assyria.

The most proud will stumble and fall, and no one will raise him up; and I will kindle a fire in his cities, and it will devour everything all around him.

Therefore, thus says the Lord God: Because it is lifted up in height and has shot up its top among the clouds, and its heart is arrogant in its height,

to the end that none of all the trees by the waters exalt themselves for their height, or shoot up their tops among the clouds, or their well-watered trees stand up in their height, for they all have been delivered to death, to the nether parts of the earth in the midst of the sons of men, with those who go down to the pit.

He shall pitch the tabernacles of his palace between the seas in the beautiful holy mountain. Yet he shall come to his end, and no one shall help him.

Now I, Nebuchadnezzar, praise and extol and honor the King of heaven, for all His works are true and His ways just, and those who walk in pride He is able to abase.

And ships will come from the coasts of Cyprus and will afflict Ashur and will afflict Eber, and he also will perish forever.”

“Either make the tree good and its fruit good, or else make the tree corrupt and its fruit corrupt. For the tree is known by its fruit.

For out of the heart proceed evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, sexual immorality, thefts, false witness, and blasphemies.

however, I feared the wrath of the enemy, that their adversaries would misunderstand and say, “Our hand is victorious, and the Lord has not done all this.”

For the time has come for judgment to begin at the house of God, and if it begins first with us, what shall the end be for those who do not obey the gospel of God?
