When you reach out your hands, I will hide My eyes from you; even when you make many prayers, I will not hear. Your hands are full of blood.

Then Solomon stood in front of the altar of the Lord in the presence of all the congregation of Israel and spread his hands toward heaven.

Now when Solomon finished praying this prayer and making supplication to the Lord, he arose from before the altar of the Lord, from kneeling on his knees with his hands spread up to heaven.

At the evening sacrifice I rose up from my heaviness and, despite having my clothes and my robe torn, I knelt on my knees and stretched out my hands in prayer to the Lord my God

Terrors overtake him like floodwaters; a tempest steals him away in the night.

Surely God will not hear vanity, nor will the Almighty regard it.

Lift up your hands in the sanctuary, and bless the Lord.

Give ear to my prayer, O God, and do not hide Yourself from my supplication.

If I regard iniquity in my heart, the Lord will not hear me;

Moses said to him, “As soon as I am gone out of the city, I will spread out my hands to the Lord. The thunder shall cease, and there shall no longer be any more hail, so that you may know that the earth is the Lord’s.

When the Lord has washed away the filth of the daughters of Zion and has purged the blood of Jerusalem from the midst by the spirit of justice and by the spirit of burning,

Truly You are a God who hides Yourself, O God of Israel, the Savior.

Behold, you fast for strife and debate, and to strike with the fist of wickedness. You do not fast as you do this day, to make your voice to be heard on high.

Is it not to divide your bread with the hungry and bring the poor who are outcasts into your house? When you see the naked, to cover him and not hide yourself from your own flesh?

There is no one who calls on Your name, who stirs up himself to take hold of You; for You have hidden Your face from us and have consumed us because of our iniquities.

I will wait on the Lord, who hides His face from the house of Jacob, and I will eagerly look for Him.

Therefore thus says the Lord, behold, I will bring calamity upon them which they will not be able to escape. And though they cry to Me, I will not listen to them.

When they fast, I will not hear their cry. And when they offer a burnt offering and a grain offering, I will not accept them. But I will consume them by the sword, and by the famine, and by the pestilence.

For I have heard a voice as of a woman in labor, and the anguish as of her who brings forth her first child, the voice of the daughter of Zion, that bewails herself, that spreads her hands, saying, “Ah, woe is me, for my soul is wearied because of murderers.”

You have multiplied your slain in this city, and you have filled the streets with them.

Son of man, these men have set up their idols in their heart and put the stumbling block of their iniquity before their face. Should I be inquired of by them at all?

The nations shall know that the house of Israel went into captivity for their iniquity because they trespassed against Me, and I hid My face from them. And I gave them into the hand of their enemies, and all of them fell by the sword.

With their flocks and their herds they will go to seek the Lord, but they will not find Him. He has withdrawn from them.

Then they will cry out to the Lord, but He will not answer them; He will hide His face from them at that time, because they have wrought evil deeds.

Therefore it happened that as I called, and they would not hear, so they called, and I would not hear, says the Lord of Hosts.

“Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! You shut the kingdom of heaven against men. For you neither enter yourselves, nor allow those who are entering to go in.

But when you pray, do not use vain repetitions, as the heathen do. For they think that they will be heard for their much speaking.

We know that God does not listen to sinners. But if anyone is a worshipper of God and does His will, He hears him.

Therefore I desire that the men pray everywhere, lifting up holy hands, without wrath or contentiousness.
