As for you, Solomon my son, know the God of your fathers and serve Him with a whole heart and with a willing spirit, for the Lord searches every heart and understands the intent of every thought. If you seek Him, He will be found by you, but if you forsake Him, He will abandon you forever.

Not for your sacrifices will I rebuke you; your burnt offerings are continually before Me.

To do righteousness and justice is more acceptable to the Lord than sacrifice.

Guard your steps when you enter the house of God. Drawing near to obey is better than the sacrifice of fools, because they do not know that they are committing evil.

For what purpose is the multitude of your sacrifices to Me? says the Lord. I am full of the burnt offerings of rams, and the fat of fed animals. I do not delight in the blood of bulls, or of lambs, or of male goats.

Is not this the fast that I have chosen: to loose the bonds of wickedness, to undo the heavy burdens, and to let the oppressed go free, and break every yoke?

He judged the cause of the poor and needy; then it was well with him. Is not this what it means to know Me? says the Lord.

For I spoke not to your fathers, nor commanded them in the day that I brought them out of the land of Egypt, concerning burnt offerings or sacrifices.

Therefore, O king, let my counsel be acceptable to you, and break off your sins by righteousness and your iniquities by showing mercy to the poor, in case there may be a lengthening of your prosperity.”

Take words with you and return to the Lord. Say to Him, “Take away all iniquity, and accept that which is good; and we will offer the fruit of our lips!

I will take you for My wife in faithfulness, and you will know the Lord.

Hear the word of the Lord, O Israelites, for the Lord has a dispute with the inhabitants of the land: There is no truth or mercy, and no knowledge of God in the land.

For the sacrifices of My offerings, they sacrifice flesh and eat it; but the Lord does not accept them. Now He will remember their iniquity and punish their sins. They will return to Egypt.

I hate, I despise your festivals, and I am not pleased by your solemn assemblies.

“With what should I come before the Lord, and bow down before God on high? Shall I come before Him with burnt offerings, with calves one year old?

He has told you, O man, what is good— and what does the Lord require of you, but to do justice and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God?

If you had known what this meant, ‘I desire mercy, and not sacrifice,’ you would not have condemned the innocent.

Blessed are the merciful, for they shall obtain mercy.

But go and learn what this means, ‘I desire mercy, and not sacrifice.’ For I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners, to repentance.”

To love Him with all the heart, and with all the understanding, and with all the soul, and with all the strength, and to love one’s neighbor as oneself, is more than all burnt offerings and sacrifices.”

All of the people who had come out were circumcised, but all the people born in the wilderness along the way after leaving Egypt were not circumcised.

By this we know that we know Him, if we keep His commandments.

Whoever remains in Him does not sin. Whoever sins has not seen Him and does not know Him.

Samuel said, “Does the Lord delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices as much as in obeying the voice of the Lord? Behold, obedience is better than sacrifice, a listening ear than the fat of rams.
