Ephraim said, “Yet I am rich, I have found wealth for myself. In all my labors, they shall find no offense in me that would be sin.”

For you say, ‘I am rich, and have stored up goods, and have need of nothing,’ yet do not realize that you are wretched, miserable, poor, blind, and naked.

Trust not in oppression; put no vain hope in robbery; if riches increase, set not your heart on them.

those who trust in their wealth and boast in the abundance of their riches?

Otherwise, you may say in your heart, “My power and the might of my hand have gained me this wealth.”

Command those who are rich in this world that they not be conceited, nor trust in uncertain riches, but in the living God, who richly gives us all things to enjoy.

He said to them, “You are those who justify yourselves before men, but God knows your hearts. For that which is highly esteemed before men is an abomination before God.

“No servant can serve two masters. Either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be loyal to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and wealth.”

And I will say to my soul, Soul, you have many goods laid up for many years. Take rest. Eat, drink, and be merry.’

But he, desiring to justify himself, said to Jesus, “And who is my neighbor?”

Your words have been hard against Me, says the Lord. Yet you say, “What have we spoken against You?”

Therefore they sacrifice to their net and burn incense to their dragnet; for by them their portion is extravagant, and their food plentiful.

How can you say, “I am not polluted, I have not gone after the Baals”? See your way in the valley. Know what you have done. You are a swift young camel entangling her ways,

you say, “I am innocent; surely His anger shall turn away from me.” Behold, I will judge you, because you say, “I have not sinned.”

You have wearied the Lord with your words. Yet you say, “How have we wearied Him?” When you say, “Everyone who does evil is good in the sight of the Lord, and He delights in them,” or, “Where is the God of justice?”

by your great wisdom, by your trade, you have increased your riches, and your heart is lifted up because of your riches.

They feed upon the sin of My people, and they are greedy for their iniquity.

When they had pasture, they were satisfied. They were satisfied, and their heart was exalted; therefore they forgot Me.

Return, O Israel, to the Lord your God, for you have stumbled because of your iniquity.

A false balance is an abomination to the Lord, but a just weight is His delight.

As a cage is full of birds, so are their houses full of deceit. Therefore they have become great and rich.

saying, “When will the New Moon be over, so that we may sell grain? And the Sabbath, that we may open the wheat sales, making the ephah too small, and the shekel too heavy, cheating with dishonest scales,
