For a will has force after men are dead, since it has no force at all while the one who made it lives.

Then Israel said to Joseph, “Behold, I am about to die, but God will be with you and return you again to the land of your fathers.

Brothers, I am speaking in human terms: Though it is only a man’s covenant, yet if it is ratified, no one annuls or adds to it.

Peace I leave with you. My peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.

For where there is a will, there must also of necessity be the death of the one who grants it.

So not even the first covenant was inaugurated without blood.
