For the gospel was preached to us as well as to them. But the word preached did not benefit them, because it was not mixed with faith in those who heard it.
Then Paul and Barnabas boldly said, “It was necessary that the word of God should be spoken to you first. But seeing you reject it, and judge yourselves unworthy of eternal life, behold, we are turning to the Gentiles.
And the Scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the Gentiles by faith, preached the gospel in advance to Abraham, saying, “In you shall all the nations be blessed.”
For our gospel did not come to you in word only, but also in power, and in the Holy Spirit, and in much assurance, just as you know what kind of men we were among you for your sake.
For this reason we thank God without ceasing, because when you received the word of God, which you heard from us, you received it not as the word of men, but as it truly is, the word of God, which effectively works also in you who believe.
And without faith it is impossible to please God, for he who comes to God must believe that He exists and that He rewards those who diligently seek Him.
It was revealed to them that they were serving not themselves, but us, concerning the things which are now announced to you, by those who have preached the gospel to you, through the Holy Spirit sent from heaven —things into which angels desire to look.
