for he was looking for a city which has foundations, whose builder and maker is God.
For here we have no continuing city, but we seek one to come.
But our citizenship is in heaven, and it is from there that we wait for the Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ,
But you have come to Mount Zion and to the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, and to an innumerable company of angels;
We know that if our earthly house, this tent, were to be destroyed, we have an eternal building of God in the heavens, a house not made with hands.
For every house is built by someone, but the One who builds all things is God.
In My Father’s house are many dwelling places. If it were not so, I would have told you. I am going to prepare a place for you.
I, John, saw the Holy City, the New Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband.
Therefore, since we are receiving a kingdom that cannot be moved, let us be gracious, by which we may serve God acceptably with reverence and godly fear.
What shall one then answer the messengers of the nation? That the Lord has founded Zion, and the poor of His people shall trust in it.
But they desired a better country, that is, a heavenly one. Therefore God is not ashamed to be called their God, for He has prepared a city for them.
