Joseph saw Ephraim’s children to the third generation. Also, the sons of Machir, the son of Manasseh, were brought up on Joseph’s knees.

Children’s children are the crown of old men, and the glory of children is their father.

The sons of Machir the son of Manasseh went to Gilead and captured it and drove out the Amorites who were in it.

Then allotment was made to the tribe of Manasseh, for he was the firstborn of Joseph. To Machir the firstborn of Manasseh, the father of Gilead, were allotted Gilead and Bashan, because he was a warrior.
