Jacob became angry with Rachel and said, “Am I in the place of God, who has withheld from you the fruit of the womb?”

Now do not be upset or angry with yourselves because you sold me here, for God sent me before you to preserve life.

His brothers also came and fell down before him and said, “Behold, we are your servants.”

But as for you, you intended to harm me, but God intended it for good, in order to bring it about as it is this day, to save many lives.

When the king of Israel had read the letter, he tore his clothes and said, “Am I God, to kill and to give life, that this man sends a man to me to take away his leprosy? But consider, and see how he is seeking a quarrel with me.”

But immediately Jesus spoke to them, saying, “Be of good cheer. It is I. Do not be afraid.”

Beloved, do not avenge yourselves, but rather give place to God’s wrath, for it is written: “Vengeance is Mine. I will repay,” says the Lord.

Vengeance is Mine, and recompense; their foot will slip in due time; for the day of their calamity is at hand, and the things to come hasten upon them.

For we know Him who said, “Vengeance is Mine,” says the Lord, “I will repay.” And again He says, “The Lord will judge His people.”
