If the God of my father, the God of Abraham and the Fear of Isaac, had not been with me, surely you would have sent me away empty now. God has seen my affliction and the labor of my hands and rebuked you last night.”

But the Lord came down to see the city and the tower that the sons of men built.

Then the angel of the Lord said to her, “Behold, you are pregnant and will bear a son. You shall call his name Ishmael, because the Lord has heard your affliction.

and said to them, “I see your father’s demeanor, that it is not congenial toward me as before, but the God of my father has been with me.

The God of Abraham, the God of Nahor, and the God of their father, judge between us.” Then Jacob vowed by the Fear of his father Isaac.

And Jacob said, “O God of my father Abraham and God of my father Isaac, the Lord who said to me, ‘Return to your country and to your relatives, and I will prosper you,’

Let us arise and go up to Bethel, and there I will make an altar to God, who answered me in the day of my distress and has been with me wherever I have gone.”

So Israel set out with all that he had and came to Beer-sheba and offered sacrifices to the God of his father Isaac.

So David went out before them and said to them, “If you have come in peace to help me, then I will have a heart united with yours, but if to betray me to my adversaries, when there is no violence in my hand, may the God of our fathers see, and may He decide between us.”

I will be glad and rejoice in Your lovingkindness, for You have seen my trouble; You have known my soul in adversities,

The Lord said, “I have surely seen the affliction of My people who are in Egypt and have heard their cry on account of their taskmasters, for I know their sorrows.

Sanctify the Lord of Hosts Himself, and let Him be your fear, and let Him be your dread.

I thank and praise You, O God of my fathers; for You have given me wisdom and might, and have made known to me now what we asked of You, for You have made known to us the king’s matter.”

When you send him out free from you, you must not let him go away empty-handed.

Yet Michael the archangel, when contending with the devil in a dispute about the body of Moses, did not dare to pronounce upon him a railing judgment. But he said, “The Lord rebuke you!”
