The Lord appeared to Abraham near the great oak trees of Mamre while he sat in the tent door in the heat of the day.

Then the Lord said, “Should I hide from Abraham what I am doing,

After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, “Abraham!” And he said, “Here I am.”

But the angel of the Lord called to him out of heaven and said, “Abraham, Abraham!” And he said, “Here I am.”

Then the angel of the Lord called to Abraham out of heaven a second time,

“When the livestock conceived, I lifted up my eyes and saw in a dream that the male goats mating with the flock were striped, speckled, and spotted.

I am the God of Bethel, where you anointed the pillar, where you vowed a vow to Me. Now arise, and get out of this land, and return to the land of your family.’ ”

But God came to Laban the Syrian in a dream by night and said to him, “Take care that you speak to Jacob neither good nor bad.”

and said to them, “I see your father’s demeanor, that it is not congenial toward me as before, but the God of my father has been with me.

Now Joseph dreamed a dream, and when he told it to his brothers, they hated him even more.

When the Lord saw that he turned aside to see, God called to him from out of the midst of the bush and said, “Moses, Moses.” And he said, “Here I am.”

He said, “Hear now My word. If there is a prophet among you, I the Lord will make Myself known to him in a vision, and I will speak to him in a dream.

When he was sitting on the judgment seat, his wife sent word to him, “Have nothing to do with that righteous Man, for I have suffered much today in a dream on account of Him.”

Then Eli called Samuel, and said, “Samuel, my son.” And he answered, “Here I am.”

Then the Lord called to Samuel, and he answered, “Here I am.”

The Lord called Samuel again. So Samuel arose and went to Eli, and said, “Here I am, for you called me.” And he answered, “I did not call, my son. Return, lie down again.”

The Lord again called Samuel a third time. So he arose and went to Eli and said, “Here I am, for you called me.” Then Eli understood that the Lord was calling to the boy.
