therefore the Lord God sent him out from the garden of Eden, to till the ground from which he was taken.

no shrub of the field was yet on the earth, and no plant of the field had yet sprouted, for the Lord God had not caused it to rain on the earth, and there was no man to cultivate the ground.

Then the Lord God formed man from the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and man became a living being.

From now on when you till the ground, it will not yield for you its best. You will be a fugitive and a wanderer on the earth.”

Then she gave birth again to his brother Abel. And Abel was a keeper of flocks, but Cain was a tiller of the ground.

Noah began to be a man of the soil, and he planted a vineyard.

But this is an advantage to the land in every way: a king committed to a cultivated field.
