On the seventh day God completed His work which He had done, and He rested on the seventh day from all His work which He had done.

God saw everything that He had made, and behold, it was very good. So the evening and the morning were the sixth day.

Then God blessed the seventh day and made it holy, because on it He had rested from all His work which He had created and made.

For six days you are to do your work, but on the seventh day you must cease, so that your ox and your donkey may rest, and the son of your female servant and the foreigner may refresh themselves.

Six days may work be done, but on the seventh is the Sabbath of complete rest, holy to the Lord. Whoever does any work on the Sabbath day will surely be put to death.

It is a sign between Me and the Israelites forever, for in six days the Lord made heaven and earth, but on the seventh day He rested and was refreshed.”

If because of the Sabbath you turn away your foot from doing your pleasure on My holy day, and call the Sabbath a delight, the holy day of the Lord honorable, and honor it, not doing your own ways, nor finding your own pleasure, nor speaking your own words,

Jesus answered them, “My Father is working still, and I am working.”

but the seventh day is the Sabbath of the Lord your God. On it you shall not do any work: you, nor your son, nor your daughter, nor your male servant, nor your female servant, nor your ox, nor your donkey, nor any of your livestock, nor the foreigner that is within your gates, so that your male servant and your female servant may rest as well as you.

For whoever enters His rest will also cease from his own works, as God did from His.

For He spoke somewhere about the seventh day like this: “And God rested on the seventh day from all His works.”
