Then God set them in the expanse of the heavens to give light on the earth,

I have set My rainbow in the cloud, and it shall be a sign of a covenant between Me and the earth.

“Have you commanded the morning in your days, and caused the dawn to know its place,

O Lord, our Lord, how excellent is Your name in all the earth! You have set Your glory above the heavens.

When I consider Your heavens, the work of Your fingers, the moon and the stars, which You have established,

Thus says the Lord: If you can break My covenant of the day and My covenant of the night so that there should not be day and night in their season,

Thus says the Lord: If My covenant for day and night does not stand, and if I have not appointed the ordinances of heaven and earth,

For thus has the Lord commanded us: ‘I have established you to be a light of the Gentiles, that you may bring salvation to the ends of the earth.’ ”
