Galatians 5:17

Modern English Version

For the flesh lusts against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh. These are in opposition to one another, so that you may not do the things that you please.

The Lord said, “My Spirit will not always strive with man, for he is flesh; yet his days will be one hundred and twenty years.”

Direct my steps according to Your word, and let no iniquity have dominion over me.

Consider how I love Your precepts; revive me, O  Lord, according to Your lovingkindness.

I have gone astray like a lost sheep; seek out Your servant, for I forget not Your commandments.

My soul is consumed with longing for Your decrees at all times.

I will run the way of Your commandments, for You shall enlarge my heart.

Lead me in the path of Your commandments, for therein do I delight.

Behold, I long for Your precepts; revive me in Your righteousness.

If you, Lord, should mark iniquities, O Lord, who could stand?

Iniquities prevail against me; as for our transgressions, You will provide atonement for them.

Surely there is not a righteous man on earth who only does good and refrains from sin.

And I said: “Woe is me! For I am undone because I am a man of unclean lips, and I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips. For my eyes have seen the King, the Lord of Hosts.”

“He who is not with Me is against Me, and he who does not gather with Me scatters abroad.

Jesus answered him, “Blessed are you, Simon son of Jonah, for flesh and blood has not revealed this to you, but My Father who is in heaven.

But He turned and said to Peter, “Get behind Me, Satan! You are an offense to Me, for you are not mindful of the things that are of God, but those that are of men.”

Watch and pray that you enter not into temptation. The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.”

Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be filled.

He said to Him, “Lord, I am ready to go with You to prison and to death.”

He said to them, “Why do you sleep? Rise and pray, lest you fall into temptation.”

That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.

For if you live according to the flesh, you will die, but if through the Spirit you put to death the deeds of the body, you will live.

Is the law then contrary to the promises of God? God forbid! For if there had been a law given which could have given life, righteousness would indeed come through the law.

We all stumble in many ways. But if any man does not stumble in what he says, he is a complete man and able also to control the whole body.
