Then Solomon stood in front of the altar of the Lord in the presence of all the congregation of Israel and spread his hands toward heaven.

whatever prayer, whatever supplication is made by anyone, or by all Your people Israel, each knowing the affliction of his own heart, and spreading his hands toward this house;

Now when Solomon finished praying this prayer and making supplication to the Lord, he arose from before the altar of the Lord, from kneeling on his knees with his hands spread up to heaven.

For Solomon made a bronze platform and set it in the midst of the enclosure. It was five cubits in length, five cubits in width, and three cubits in height. And he stood on it and knelt down before all the assembly of Israel and spread out his hands to heaven.

When I heard these words, I sat down and wept and mourned for days. Then I fasted, and prayed before the God of heaven,

Let my prayer be set as incense before You, and the lifting up of my hands as the evening sacrifice.

I stretch forth my hands to You; my soul thirsts for You like a thirsty land.    Selah

Oh come, let us worship and bow down; let us kneel before the Lord, our maker!

Moses said to him, “As soon as I am gone out of the city, I will spread out my hands to the Lord. The thunder shall cease, and there shall no longer be any more hail, so that you may know that the earth is the Lord’s.

So Moses went out of the city from Pharaoh and spread out his hands to the Lord, and the thunders and hail ceased, and the rain was no longer poured upon the earth.

When you reach out your hands, I will hide My eyes from you; even when you make many prayers, I will not hear. Your hands are full of blood.

In those days I, Daniel, was mourning three full weeks.

He withdrew from them about a stone’s throw, and He knelt down and prayed,

But when our days were over, we parted and traveled on. Everyone, with wives and children, escorted us until we were outside the city. And we knelt on the shore and prayed.

For this reason I bow my knees to the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ,
