Ezra 9:11

which You commanded by Your servants the prophets, saying, ‘The land you are entering to possess is an unclean land, with the impurity of the peoples of the lands, with their abominations which have filled it from one end to another, with their uncleanness.

Moreover, Manasseh shed innocent blood very much, until he had filled Jerusalem from one end to the other; besides his sin he caused Judah to sin by doing evil in the sight of the Lord.

But he did evil in the sight of the Lord, according to the abominations of the nations whom the Lord previously cast out before the Israelites.

Then they ate together, both the Israelites who had come out of captivity and all those who had separated themselves from the uncleanness of the nations of the land, in order to seek the Lord God of Israel.

Now when these things were done, the leaders contacted me, saying, “The people of Israel, the priests, and the Levites have not separated themselves from the people of the lands. They practice the abominations of the Canaanites, the Hittites, the Perizzites, the Jebusites, the Ammonites, the Moabites, the Egyptians, and the Amorites.

“Now, O our God, what shall we say after this? For we have forsaken Your commandments,

to listen to the words of My servants the prophets, whom I sent to you, both rising up early and sending them, but you have not listened,

Since we have these promises, beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God.

You shall not do so to the Lord your God, for every abomination to the Lord, which He hates, they have done to their gods. They have even burned their sons and their daughters in the fire to their gods.

For all that do these things are an abomination to the Lord, and because of these abominations the Lord your God will drive them out from before you.
