Ezra 6:22

Modern English Version

With joy they observed the Feast of Unleavened Bread for seven days because the Lord had made them joyful. He had turned the heart of the king of Assyria toward them and strengthened their hands in the work on the house of God, who is the God of Israel.

In his days Pharaoh Necho, king of Egypt, went up against the king of Assyria to the Euphrates River. King Josiah went to meet him, but he killed him at Megiddo when he had seen him.

Then Jehoiada placed guards at the house of the Lord, under the supervision of the priests, the Levites whom David allotted for the house of the Lord to make burnt offerings to the Lord as is written in the Law of Moses, with rejoicing and music, according to the direction of David.

And the Israelites who were present had the Passover at that time and the Feast of Unleavened Bread for seven days.

Now in the first year of Cyrus king of Persia, that the word of the Lord by the mouth of Jeremiah might be fulfilled, the Lord stirred up the spirit of Cyrus king of Persia, so that he issued a proclamation throughout all his kingdom, and also put it in writing, saying,

Then Darius the king issued a decree and a search was made in the house of records, where the treasures were stored in Babylon.

Blessed be the Lord God of our fathers, who has put such a thing as this in the king’s heart, to beautify the house of the Lord in Jerusalem,

But during this time I was not in Jerusalem, since in the thirty-second year of King Artaxerxes of Babylon I had gone to the king. At the conclusion of those days I requested a leave of the king.

When a man’s ways please the Lord, He makes even his enemies to be at peace with him.

As rivulets of water is the heart of a king in the hand of the Lord; wherever He pleases is where He directs it.

Jesus answered, “You would have no power at all over Me, unless it were given to you from above. Therefore he who handed Me over to you has the greater sin.”
