Her adversaries have become her masters, her enemies prosper; for the Lord has afflicted her because of the multitude of her transgressions. Her children have gone into captivity before the enemy.

The Lord has done what He planned; He has fulfilled His word that He had commanded in the days of old. He has thrown down and has not pitied, and He has caused the enemy to rejoice over you; He has exalted the power of your adversaries.

So I will make My fury toward you to rest, and My jealousy shall depart from you, and I will be quiet, and will be angry no more.

I will set My jealousy against you, so that they deal furiously with you. They shall take away your nose and your ears. And your remnant shall fall by the sword. They shall take your sons and your daughters. And your remnant shall be devoured by the fire.

In your filthiness is lewdness. Because I would have purged you, yet you are not purged, you shall not be purged from your filthiness anymore until I have caused My fury to rest on you.

But as for Me, My eye shall not spare, nor will I have pity, but I will recompense their way upon their heads.”

To the others He said in my hearing, “Go after him through the city and strike. Do not let your eye spare or have pity.

Then they will cry out to the Lord, but He will not answer them; He will hide His face from them at that time, because they have wrought evil deeds.

The Lord is a jealous and avenging God; the Lord avenges and is furious. The Lord takes vengeance on His enemies, and He reserves it for His adversaries;

The Lord was very angry with your fathers,

Therefore it happened that as I called, and they would not hear, so they called, and I would not hear, says the Lord of Hosts.

Once the Master of the house has risen up and shut the door, and you begin to stand outside and knock at the door, saying, ‘Lord, Lord, open for us,’ He will answer you, ‘I do not know where you come from.’

And you will cry out in that day because of your king, whom you have chosen for yourselves, but the Lord will not answer you in that day.”
