Ezekiel 8:16

He brought me into the inner court of the house of the Lord, and behold, at the door of the temple of the Lord, between the porch and the altar, were about twenty-five men with their backs toward the temple of the Lord and their faces toward the east. And they worshipped the sun toward the east.

And the bronze altar that was before the Lord he moved from the front of the house, from between the altar and the house of the Lord. He put it on the north side of the new altar.

He built altars for all the host of heaven in the two courts of the house of the Lord.

He removed the horses that the kings of Judah had given to the sun, at the entry of the house of the Lord, by the hall of Nathan-melech the eunuch, which was in the vestibule. The chariots of the sun he burned with fire.

Then he removed the idolatrous priests whom the kings of Judah had ordained to burn incense on the high places at the cities of Judah and around Jerusalem; those also who burned incense to Baal, to the sun, to the moon, to the constellations, and to all the host of heaven.

For our fathers have acted unfaithfully and have done what is evil in the eyes of the Lord our God, and they have abandoned Him. They have turned their face from the sanctuary of the Lord and have turned their back.

And Solomon consecrated the middle of the court that was in front of the house of the Lord, because there he made burnt offerings and the fat of peace offerings, (because the bronze altar that Solomon made was surely not able to contain the burnt offerings, grain offerings, and the fat offerings).

say to a tree, “You are my father.” And to a stone, “You gave birth to me.” For they have turned their back to Me, and not their face. But in the time of their trouble they will say, “Arise and save us.”

They have turned their back to Me and not their face. Though I taught them, rising up early and teaching them, yet they have neither listened nor received instruction.

But we will certainly do whatever we have vowed, to burn incense to the queen of heaven, and to pour out drink offerings to her, as we have done, we, and our fathers, our kings, and our officials, in the cities of Judah and in the streets of Jerusalem, for then we had plenty of food, and were well off, and saw no disaster.

The children gather wood, and the fathers kindle the fire, and the women knead their dough, to make cakes to the queen of heaven, and to pour out drink offerings to other gods, that they may provoke Me to anger.

And they will spread them before the sun and the moon and all the host of heaven, whom they have loved and whom they have served, and after whom they have walked and whom they have sought, and whom they have worshipped. They will not be gathered or be buried. They will be as dung upon the face of the earth.

Now the cherubim stood on the right side of the temple when the man went in, and the cloud filled the inner court.

Moreover the Spirit lifted me up and brought me to the east gate of the house of the Lord which faces eastward. And behold, at the door of the gate were twenty-five men, among whom I saw Jaazaniah the son of Azzur and Pelatiah the son of Benaiah, officials of the people.

Therefore thus says the Lord God: Because you have forgotten Me and cast Me behind your back, now bear the punishment of your lewdness and your harlotries.

For when they had slain their children to their idols, then they came the same day into My sanctuary to profane it. And behold, thus they have done in the midst of My house.

He brought me to the inner court by the south gate. And he measured the south gate according to these same measurements.

Then he went to the gateway facing east; and he went up its stairs and measured the threshold of the gate, which was one reed wide. And the other threshold of the gate was one reed wide.

So the Spirit took me up and brought me into the inner court; and behold, the glory of the Lord filled the temple.

By setting their threshold by My threshold and their post by My posts and the wall between Me and them, they have even defiled My holy name by their abominations that they have committed. Therefore I have consumed them in My anger.

And the priest shall take some of the blood of the sin offering and put it on the doorposts of the temple and on the four corners of the ledge of the altar and on the gateposts of the inner court.

Thus says the Lord God: The gate of the inner court that faces east shall be shut the six working days. But on the Sabbath it shall be opened, and in the day of the New Moon it shall be opened.

Make a chain, for the land is full of bloody crimes, and the city is full of violence.

Then He said to me, “Have you seen this, O son of man? Yet again you shall see greater abominations than these.”

Between the temple porch and the altar, let the priests, ministers of the Lord, weep and say, “Have pity upon Your people, and do not make Your inheritance a disgrace, a mockery among the nations. Why should they say among the peoples, ‘Where is their God?’ ”

and has gone and served other gods and worshipped them, either the sun, or moon, or any of the host of heaven, which I have not commanded,

And beware, lest you lift up your eyes to heaven, and when you see the sun, and the moon, and the stars, even all the host of heaven, you are led astray and worship them, and serve them, that which the Lord your God has allotted to all nations under the whole heaven.
