Your altars shall be desolate, and your images shall be broken. And I will cast down your slain men before your idols.

He cried against the altar by the word of the Lord and said, “O altar, altar, thus says the Lord: ‘Behold, a child named Josiah will be born in the house of David, and he will sacrifice upon you the priests of the high places who burn incense on you, and these men’s bones shall be burned upon you.’ ”

He broke the standing stones, cut down the Asherah poles, and filled their sites with human bones.

And he also removed all the high places and incense altars in the cities in Judah. And the kingdom was at rest under Asa.

Through this, therefore, the iniquity of Jacob shall be forgiven, and this will be the full price of the removal of his sin: when he makes all the stones of the altar as chalkstones that are pulverized, when the groves and incense altars shall not stand.

He shall also break the images of Heliopolis that is in the land of Egypt, and the houses of the gods of the Egyptians he shall burn with fire.

Therefore, behold, the days are coming, says the Lord, that it will no more be called Topheth, nor the Valley of Ben-hinnom, but the Valley of Slaughter; for they will bury in Topheth because there is no other place.

Then you shall know that I am the Lord, when their slain men shall be among their idols all around their altars, on every high hill, in all the tops of the mountains, and under every green tree, and under every thick oak, the place where they offered sweet aroma to all their idols.

I will destroy your high places, and cut down your images, and cast your funeral offerings on the lifeless forms of your idols, and I shall abhor you.

When they arose early on the next morning, behold, Dagon was fallen upon his face to the ground before the ark of the Lord, and the head of Dagon and both the palms of his hands were cut off upon the threshold. Only the torso of Dagon was left to him.
