The sword shall come upon Egypt, and great pain shall be in Cush, when the slain fall in Egypt, they take away her wealth, and her foundations are broken down.
I will set the Egyptians against the Egyptians, and they shall fight every one against his brother, and every one against his neighbor, city against city, and kingdom against kingdom.
Come up, O horses, and rage, O chariots! And let the mighty men come forth: the Cushites and the Libyans who handle the shield, and the Lydians who handle and bend the bow.
Shout against her all around; she has given herself up, her foundations have fallen, her walls have been thrown down. For this is the vengeance of the Lord. Take vengeance on her; as she has done, do to her.
For I will send pestilence into her, and blood into her streets; and the wounded shall fall in her midst by the sword upon her on every side; and they shall know that I am the Lord.
Thus I will make the land of Egypt desolate in the midst of the countries that are desolate, and her cities among the cities that are laid waste shall be desolate for forty years. And I will scatter the Egyptians among the nations and will disperse them among the countries.
Therefore thus says the Lord God: Behold, I will give the land of Egypt to Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon. And he shall carry off her wealth and take her spoil and take her prey. And it shall be wages for his army.
But he shall have power over the hidden treasures of gold and of silver, and over all the precious things of Egypt. And the Libyans and the Cushites shall be at his steps.
