You have become guilty in your blood that you have shed and have defiled yourself with your idols which you have made. And you have caused your day to draw near and have come to your years. Therefore I have made you a reproach to the nations and a mocking to all countries.

Now you, son of man, will you judge, will you judge the bloody city? Indeed, you shall show her all her abominations.

Thus says the Lord God: You shall drink of your sister’s cup, which is deep and wide; you shall be laughed to scorn and held in derision; it contains much.

Thus she committed her harlotries with them, with all those who were the chosen men of Assyria, and with all on whom she doted, with all their idols she defiled herself.

For her blood is in her midst; she set it on the bare rock; she did not pour it on the ground to cover it with dust.

That it may cause fury to come up to take vengeance, I have set her blood on the bare rock, that it may not be covered.

Nor will I cause men to hear in you the invectives of the nations anymore, nor shall you bear the reproach of the peoples anymore, nor shall you cause your nation to fall anymore, says the Lord God.

O Lord, according to all Your righteousness, I beseech You, let Your anger and Your fury be turned away from Your city Jerusalem, Your holy mountain, because for our sins and for the iniquities of our fathers, Jerusalem and Your people have become a reproach to all who are around us.

I will bring the land into desolation, and your enemies that dwell there shall be astonished at it.

“And behold, you have risen up in your fathers’ place, an increase of sinful men, to increase more the burning anger of the Lord toward Israel.

You will become a horror, a proverb, and an object of ridicule among all nations where the Lord shall lead you.

All nations will say, “Why has the Lord done such to this land? What does the heatedness of this great anger mean?”

forbidding us to speak to the Gentiles that they might be saved. In this way they are always piling up their sins, but wrath has come upon them to the extreme.
