Elisha said to the king of Israel, “What have I to do with you? Go to your father’s prophets, or to your mother’s prophets.” Then the king of Israel said to him, “No. The Lord has called these three kings to deliver them into the hand of Moab.”
When she could no longer hide him, she got a papyrus basket for him, and daubed it with tar and pitch. She then put the child in it and set it in the reeds by the river’s bank.
But where are your gods that you have made for yourself? Let them arise, if they can save you in the time of your trouble; for according to the number of your cities are your gods, O Judah.
Say to those who daub it with whitewash that it shall fall. There shall be an overflowing shower, and you, O great hailstones, shall fall. And a stormy wind shall break it.
Therefore thus says the Lord God: I will make a violent wind break out in My fury. And there shall be an overflowing shower in My anger, and hailstones in My fury to consume it.
Then Zebul said to him, “Where is your mouth now, which said, ‘Who is Abimelech, that we should serve him?’ Are not these the people you dismissed out of hand? Go now, I pray, and fight against them.”
