Jacob called the name of the place Peniel, saying, “I have seen God face to face, and my life has been preserved.”

and they saw the God of Israel, and under His feet there was something like a paved work of sapphire stone as clear as the sky itself.

And you said, “Behold, the Lord our God has shown us His glory and His greatness, and we have heard His voice from the midst of the fire. We have seen this day that God speaks with man, yet he lives.

He alone has immortality, living in unapproachable light, whom no one has seen, nor can see. To Him be honor and everlasting power. Amen.

But to which of the angels did He at any time say: “Sit at My right hand, until I make Your enemies Your footstool” ?

Manoah said to his wife, “We are certainly going to die, for we have seen God.”

Then Gideon perceived that it was indeed the angel of the Lord. So Gideon said, “Alas, O Lord God! I have seen the angel of the Lord face to face.”
