He said to the elders, “Wait for us in this place until we return to you. And behold, Aaron and Hur are with you. Whoever has any matters of dispute let him come to them.”
But Moses’ hands became heavy. So they took a stone, and put it under him, and he sat on it. And Aaron and Hur supported his hands, one on one side, and the other on the other side. And his hands were steady until the going down of the sun.
Now when the people saw that Moses delayed coming down from the mountain, the people gathered themselves together around Aaron and said to him, “Come, make us gods which will go before us. As for this Moses, the man who brought us up out of the land of Egypt, we do not know what has become of him.”
“You shall go down before me to Gilgal. And behold, I will come down to you to offer burnt offerings and offer sacrifices of peace offerings. Seven days you will wait, until I come to you. Then I will make known to you what you will do.”
