On that same day the Lord made a covenant with Abram, saying, “To your descendants I have given this land, from the river of Egypt to the great Euphrates River —

“Then he said to me, ‘The Lord, before whom I walk, will send His angel with you and prosper your way, and you will take a wife for my son from my relatives and from my father’s house.

The Lord God of heaven, who took me from my father’s family and from the land of my relatives, and who spoke to me and swore to me, saying, ‘To your descendants I will give this land,’ He shall send His angel before you and you shall take a wife for my son from there.

the angel who redeemed me from all evil, bless the boys; let them be called by my name, and the name of my fathers, Abraham and Isaac; and let them grow into a multitude in the midst of the earth.”

for He will give His angels charge over you to guard you in all your ways.

Then the angel of God, which went before the camp of Israel, moved and went behind them, and the pillar of the cloud moved before them and stood behind them.

Fear and dread fall upon them; by the greatness of Your arm they are as still as a stone, until Your people pass over, O  Lord, until the people whom You have purchased pass over.

You shall bring them in, and plant them on the mountain of Your inheritance, in the place, O  Lord, which You have made for Your dwelling, in the sanctuary, O  Lord, which Your hands have established.

For My angel will go before you and bring you to the Amorites, and the Hittites, and the Perizzites, and the Canaanites, the Hivites, and the Jebusites, and I will completely destroy them.

But go now, lead the people to the place of which I have spoken to you. Behold, My angel will go before you. Nevertheless in the day when I punish, I will indeed punish them for their sin.”

And He said, “My Presence will go with you, and I will give you rest.”

I will send an angel before you, and I will drive out the Canaanite, the Amorite, the Hittite, the Perizzite, the Hivite, and the Jebusite.

In all their affliction He was afflicted, and the angel of His presence saved them; in His love and in His mercy He redeemed them; and He lifted them and carried them all the days of old.

On that day the Lord will defend those residing in Jerusalem; and even the one who stumbles among them will be as David on that day. And the house of David will be like God, like the angel of the Lord going out before them.

Behold, I send My messenger, and he will prepare the way before Me. And the Lord, whom you seek, will suddenly come to His temple, even the messenger of the covenant, in whom you delight. He is coming, says the Lord of Hosts.

And when we cried out to the Lord, He heard our voice and sent an angel and brought us out of Egypt. “And here we are in Kadesh, a city on the edge of your territory.

The anger of God was inflamed because he went, and the angel of the Lord stood in the way as an adversary against him. Now he was riding on his donkey, and his two servants were with him.

“Then the King will say to those at His right hand, ‘Come, you blessed of My Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you since the foundation of the world.

And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself, that where I am, you may be also.

He said: The Lord came from Sinai and rose up from Seir to them; He shone forth from Mount Paran, and He came with ten thousands of holy ones; from His right hand went a fiery law for them.

The Lord your God will drive them out and dispossess them from before you, and you will inherit their land, as the Lord your God told you.

Now when Joshua was by Jericho, he lifted up his eyes and looked, and behold, a man was standing in front of him with his sword drawn in His hand. And Joshua went to Him and said, “Are You for us, or for our enemies?”

He said, “Neither, for I am the commander of the army of the Lord. Now I have come.” Then Joshua fell with his face to the ground and worshipped. Then he said, “What does my Lord wish to say to His servant?”

The Lord said to Joshua, “See, I have given Jericho, its king, and mighty men of valor into your hand.
