If it is torn in pieces by beasts, then let him bring it as evidence, and he shall not make restitution for what has been torn.

However, if it was stolen from him, he shall make restitution to its owner.

If a man borrows anything from his neighbor, and it is hurt or dies when the owner was not with it, then he shall surely make restitution.

Then I said, “Ah, Lord God! Behold, my soul has not been defiled, for from my youth up, even until now, I have not eaten of that which dies of itself, or is torn in pieces, nor has abominable meat come into my mouth.”

Thus says the Lord: As the shepherd rescues out of the mouth of the lion a pair of legs or a piece of an ear, so will the Israelites be rescued, those who live in Samaria, with the corner of a bed or a piece of a couch.

The remnant of Jacob will be among the nations, in the midst of many peoples, like a lion among the beasts of the forest, like a young lion among flocks of sheep, which when it passes through, tramples and mauls, without rescuer.

The lion tore enough food for his cubs, and strangled prey for his lionesses; he has filled his caves with prey, and his dens with flesh.
