If a man opens a pit or if a man digs a pit and does not cover it, and an ox or a donkey falls into it,

If one man’s ox hurts another’s so that it dies, then they shall sell the live ox and divide its proceeds and divide the dead ox also.

If a man borrows anything from his neighbor, and it is hurt or dies when the owner was not with it, then he shall surely make restitution.

If the sun has risen on him, then there is blood guilt for him. He must make full restitution. If he has nothing, then he will be sold for his theft.

If fire breaks out and catches in thorn bushes, so that stacked grain or the standing grain or the field are consumed, then he who started the fire must surely make restitution.

Yet if he is found, he must repay sevenfold; he must forfeit all the substance of his house.

if the wicked man restores a pledge, gives back what he had robbed, walks in the statutes of life without committing iniquity, he shall surely live. He shall not die.
