But if there is any serious injury, then you shall give life for life,

If anyone causes injury to his neighbor, as he has done, so shall it be done to him,

fracture for fracture, eye for eye, tooth for tooth; as he has caused an injury to another, so shall it be done to him.

And you will not take a ransom for the life of a murderer who is guilty of death, but he will surely be put to death.

You must not show pity. But life will be for life, eye for eye, tooth for tooth, hand for hand, foot for foot.
