So Abner returned to Hebron, and Joab pulled him aside in the gateway so as to speak with him undisturbed. There he struck him in the midsection so that he died on account of the blood of Asahel, his brother.

But Jehoiada the priest commanded the captains of hundreds, those appointed over the forces, “Bring her out of the house to the ranks, and kill with the sword whoever follows her.” For the priest had said, “Let her not be killed in the house of the Lord.”

Keep back Your servant also from presumptuous sins; let them not have dominion over me! Then I will be upright, and I will be innocent of great transgression.

He who strikes his father or his mother shall surely be put to death.

If a man is burdened with the blood of another, he will be a fugitive until death; let no one help him.

If he strikes him with an instrument of iron, so that he dies, he is a murderer. The murderer shall surely be put to death.

So I spoke to you, but you would not listen. Instead, you rebelled against the commandment of the Lord and went presumptuously up into the hill country.

When a prophet speaks in the name of the Lord, if the thing does not occur or come to pass, that is the thing which the Lord has not spoken; the prophet has spoken it presumptuously. You shall not be afraid of him.

“Cursed is he who strikes down his neighbor secretly.” And all the people shall say, “Amen.”

For if we willfully continue to sin after we have received the knowledge of the truth, there no longer remains a sacrifice for sins,

especially those who walk after the flesh in pursuit of unclean desires, and despise authority. They are presumptuous and arrogant, and are not afraid to slander the angelic beings.
