Now the child grew, and she brought him to Pharaoh’s daughter, and he became her son. And she called his name Moses and said, “Because I drew him out of the water.”

He said to his daughters, “So where is he? Why is it that you have left the man? Call him so that he may eat bread.”

Now Moses kept the flock of Jethro his father-in-law, the priest of Midian, and he led the flock to the far side of the desert and came to the mountain of God, to Horeb.

Moses went and returned to Jethro his father-in-law and said to him, “Please let me go and return to my brothers who are in Egypt, and see whether they be yet alive.” And Jethro said to Moses, “Go in peace.”

Moses said to Hobab, the son of Reuel the Midianite, Moses’ father-in-law, “We are setting out to the place of which the Lord said, ‘I will give it to you.’ Come with us, and we will do good to you because the Lord has spoken good concerning Israel.”

And Miriam and Aaron spoke against Moses because of the Cushite woman whom he married, for he had married a Cushite woman.

Moses fled at this word and became a sojourner in the land of Midian, where he became the father of two sons.

But godliness with contentment is great gain.

choosing rather to suffer affliction with the people of God than to enjoy the pleasures of sin for a time.

Let your lives be without love of money, and be content with the things you have. For He has said: “I will never leave you, nor forsake you.”

but the rich in that he is made low, because as the flower of the grass he will pass away.
